In Dr. David's Words
The majority of people in the world plays sports at least once in their lifetime and they may still play their favorite sports with their friends or colleagues in their free time. Sports remain a big part of our lives and that is why it is important to be aware of the risk of injury and how to recover safely.
Anyone who has played any type of sport, pro-athlete or not, is likely aware of the risk of injury or have already experienced a sports injury, especially those in contact sports such as football, basketball, wrestling, etc. They usually see increased chance of injury even with protectors and other precautions in place. Possible injuries include, but are not limited to: concussion, tennis elbow, golf elbow, swimmer’s shoulder, sprained knee, sprained ankle, shin splints, etc.
Obviously no one wants to be injured, especially doing something they love, but what do you do when a sports injury occurs? Seeing the appropriate healthcare providers is the first priority, even if the injury may appear minor. Even a “smaller” injury that looks fine on the surface can have deeper, lasting impact on the vital systems that keep our bodies functioning optimally. Especially for young children to teenagers, an injury left untreated could have slow-developing yet critical impact on their bodies over time as their growing bodies are vulnerable.
Chiropractic helps to see any misaligned joints or inflammation of tissues from the injury, and then correct bone placement in order to improve balance and facilitate the recovery process. Thus, chiropractic adjustments can help prevent imbalanced development for kids and stem unnecessary disc or joint degeneration in adults, going beyond pain relief.
