How Does Chiropractic Work?
In Dr. David's Words
Did you know that 90% of the stimulation and nutrition to the brain is generated by the movement of the spine? The communication between the brain and the rest of the body is possible through the nervous system and it is vital to one’s health condition. As the nervous system passes down through the spinal structure, the communication occurs inside of the spine and if there is interference in this communication, the bodily functions are affected. In other words, spinal misalignment and/or dysfunction of the spine joints/discs, interrupts the transmission of nerve impulses. To restore balance, the spine must be examined and manipulated back into proper alignment. This is where chiropractic comes in.
The chiropractic system is a patient-centered, hands-on approach to health that is focused on influencing bodily function through structural correction. Chiropractors look at the underlying issues, instead of simply treating the surface symptoms. The spine is more than bones and muscles, it is the gateway and home of the nervous system, which in turn controls and regulates everything in our body. Therefore, it is paramount to receive care to treat misalignment as well as optimize the spinal structure. Chiropractors specifically and precisely look at each of the spine segments to find any problem areas and correct it through chiropractic adjustments and other corrective methods. Then, the human body will restore its mobility and function, and heal itself, usually without side effects.
Due to its non-invasive nature, chiropractic is a safe and effective way to manage pain, especially in the musculoskeletal system and its related parts. Chiropractic is more than “popping” or “cracking” joints for shallow, short-term relief, but rather finding the cause of pain and fixing it by aligning the spine.
